Fatal Hit and Run on Missouri Flat Road

This morning, 10/10/18 at approximately 6:22 am, EDSO and CHP Placerville received a call of a vehicle vs pedestrian collision on Missouri Flat Rd at Halyard Ln. Preliminary reports indicate a dark colored sedan traveling north on Missouri Flat Rd struck a pedestrian. The sedan then fled the scene.

Fire, CHP and EDSO responded and despite life saving efforts, the pedestrian was unfortunately pronounced deceased at the scene. The victim has been identified as 87 year old Gottfried George Brunner, who resided near the location of the accident. Next of kin has been notified.

CHP – Placerville is currently investigating the collision and El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office is handling the coroner’s investigation. CHP is looking for a dark colored sedan that may have damage to the right front. There is no question that the driver of the sedan is aware they were involved in the collision. They are asked to come forward sooner than later.

Nationwide TEST of the Emergency Alert System

On October 3, 2018, FEMA will issue a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System and Wireless Emergency Alerts to test national warning capabilities.  The test message will be sent to all radio, TV, and compatible cell phones. However, some cell phones may not receive the test message. Attached to this are documents provided by FEMA for more information.

Body recovered from residential structure fire

On September 26, 2018, The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a report of a residential structure fire on Sierra Vista Road in Rescue.  Evacuations were conducted in the immediate area and EDSO was advised of an unaccounted for adult that was believed to be in the fully engulfed home.

EDSO detectives responded and a deceased person was later located within the home. Identification of this person has not been completed and next of kin will not be notified until identification is confirmed. The cause of the fire and cause of death of the victim found within the home are under investigation.
