Deputy on Administrative Leave Arrested for DUI’S

 

On March 4th, 2016, El Dorado County Sheriff’s Deputy John Anthony Broadfoot was arrested by the California Highway Patrol on charges of driving under the influence after an accident in the Shingle Springs area.  This is the third time Broadfoot has been arrested for DUI since December 8th, 2015, and he was booked into County Jail in Placerville with a $250,000 bail.

Broadfoot was initially arrested for DUI on December 8th, 2015.  That incident occurred in South Lake Tahoe area.   At that time, Broadfoot was placed on paid administrative leave.

The second arrest occurred on February 25th, 2016 when Broadfoot rolled his vehicle on Highway 50 near Ice House Road. Broadfoot was not injured.

The two latest arrests – February 25 and March 4 – were made by California Highway Patrol Officers out of the Placerville office, and the December 8th arrest was made by California Highway Patrol Officers out of the South Lake Tahoe office.

On March 7, 2016, Broadfoot was released from the County Jail after posting bail.

The California Highway Patrol is the primary law enforcement agency investigating these incidents and further inquiries should be directed through their office.

Georgetown Burglar Arrested With Help From The Community, One Still Sought

El Dorado County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a commercial burglary in Georgetown on 03/07/2016. Patrol Deputies learned that a local business, Jeepers Jamboree USA, had been victimized. The exterior bathrooms to the business as well as several outbuildings and vehicles belonging to the business had been broken into. Door frames, windows and locks were all damaged during the burglary. Surveillance footage revealed that two suspects were involved in the burglary.

Local residents greatly aided Deputies in identifying the two suspects depicted in the video. With this collaboration, Deputies were also able to identify where some of the stolen property was being stored. Detectives and Deputies then worked together to author a search warrant related to this burglary investigation.  A significant portion of the stolen property was recovered upon execution of the search warrant. This only occurred because of the information provided to us by local residents. We value this partnership greatly and need you to continue to be our “eyes” and “ears” as we patrol your neighborhoods.

03/07/2016, the same day that this crime was reported, suspect Steven McAllister, a 31 year old male resident of Georgetown was arrested by Patrol Deputies. Steven was booked in the El Dorado County Jail on charges of 459 PC – burglary, 182 (A) (1) PC – conspiracy to commit a crime and 29800 (A) (1) PC – felon in possession of a firearm.

As of 03/08/2016 there is an active felony arrest warrant for the second suspect, John Hayes IV, a 20 year old male resident of Georgetown. The warrant is for the crime of 459 PC – burglary. We are seeking the assistance of the public and the media in locating John Hayes IV. We are extremely grateful for all of the assistance that has been provided by members of our community and social media thus far. Douglas County Sheriff’s Office began investigating the disappearance of Carolyn Batchelor, resident of Zephyr Cove, Nevada on February 17th.

On Friday, February 19th, El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office received a report that Carolyn’s vehicle was parked at Inspiration Point, Emerald Bay.  Carolyn’s vehicle was covered in nearly a foot of snow from a recent storm.

A Search and Rescue mission was planned and carried out beginning Saturday, February 20th.  Search and Rescue crews searched the area around Inspiration Point for an entire week without locating Carolyn.  The search area consisted of steep and rugged terrain with one to two feet of fresh snow.

On Saturday February 27th, Search and Rescue personnel located Carolyn’s body in the area if Inspiration Point partially buried under the snow.  At this time Carolyn’s death is not considered suspicious.  The manner and cause of death remain under investigation.
