Deceased Inmate Identified

The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office is releasing the identity of the male inmate that was found deceased in his jail cell on September 19 at the El Dorado County Jail. The inmate has been identified as Lawrence Spies (34). Spies had been arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and was found with an item tied to the top bunk in his cell and around his neck.

Felony Warrant Service

Tuesday afternoon El Dorado County Sheriff’s deputies received a tip that a subject with an outstanding felony warrant was at a residence on Twin Oaks Rd. in Cameron Park. Deputies responded to the area and made contact with Richard Espinoza (43). Espinoza was arrested and booked into the El Dorado County Jail on an active felony warrant and possession of narcotics paraphernalia. The Sheriff’s Office is always pleased to have the opportunity to take dangerous criminals off the streets of El Dorado County. This arrest helps ensure the safety and security of the community.

Logging Employee Struck And Killed

At 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office received the call of an industrial accident in the El Dorado National Forest. A single male adult was reported to have been crushed by a log while working at a logging operation. Medics and deputies responded to a logging operation off of Wentworth Springs Rd. and located the deceased male. It was determined that the male had sustained fatal head injuries from the accident. The investigation is ongoing and identity will be released once the next of kin notification has been completed.
