Camino Incident Update

At this time, the suspect that fired at the Deputy has not been located.  However, Deputies and Detectives are still in the Camino area following up on investigative leads and all roads are now open.  Please be careful while driving in the area since officers are still checking the areas and will be maintaining a presence throughout the evening.

At this time there are no known facts regarding this incident to indicate there is any immediate danger to the general public.  However, residents should remain observant of their surroundings and contact law enforcement if they see anything or anyone suspicious.

Camino Incident Update

Law Enforcement Officers are continuing to check the Camino area for the suspect in this morning’s shooting. The following roads are currently closed for traffic: Pony Express Trail at Mace Road, Pony Express Trail at Alder Drive, Badger Hill Road at Blair Road, and Cable Road at Copperton Road.

As part of the investigation and ongoing search, reverse 911 calls are being made to alert residents of the affected areas.  Additionally, all schools in the area are currently open as is Marshall Hospital.

Deputy Shot at in Camino

This morning at approximately 8:00 am, a Deputy with the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office contacted a white male adult in his 30’s near Cable Road in Camino.  A struggle ensued and the suspect retrieved a handgun.  The suspect fired at the Deputy; however, the Deputy was not injured.  The suspect was wearing a flannel shirt, blue pants and boots.  The suspect was further described as having a shaved head with a goatee, approximately 6′-1″ to 6′-2″, and approximately 200-250 pounds.  The suspect was last seen driving away on Cable Road in a white, single cab Dodge pickup with no license plate.

Numerous agencies are in the area searching for the suspect and assisting the Sheriff’s Office with the investigation.
