KING FIRE NEWS ADVISORY

September 25, 2014 6:00 PM

Camino – The King Incident and cooperating agencies announce today, Thursday September 25, 2014 at 6:00 P.M. that the Mandatory Evacuation areas of Quintette and Volcanoville has been changed to a Voluntary Evacuation.

Road closures of Mosquito Road at Wentworth Springs Road and Mosquito Road at Stope Drive will still remain in place due to fire equipment and activity in the area. Use caution as emergency vehicles continue to work and travel through the area.

With today’s weather and the decreased fire activity within the Rubicon River Drainage area, the threat to the communities of Volcanoville and Quintette has been reduced.  There is a potential for a re-evacuation of those communities as temperatures increase during the next few days, as well as the potential for increased fire behavior.  Based on this information the communities of Volcanoville and Quintette have the option to repopulate but will remain under a Voluntary Evacuation.  Residents need to remain ready to evacuate should conditions change. Firefighters continue to build and strengthen control lines along the Rubicon River Drainage to protect those communities. Law enforcement patrol personnel will continue to maintain a strong security presence in the area.
