Assault with a Shotgun on the Rancheria

On 05/04/15 at about 7:40 AM, deputies responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call at a residence in the 5100 block of Brush Ridge Road in Shingle Springs. The weapon used in the assault was reportedly a shotgun. The address is on the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians Rancheria and was difficult to find. The suspect was 28 year-old Holly Fonseca and it was unknown if she still had the shotgun with her. She was driving a 2014 silver Subaru Legacy and might still be in the area.

On Brush Ridge Road, deputies were attempting to make contact with the victim when they learned a silver vehicle had left prior to their arrival. The female behind the wheel was driving so fast, the car bottomed-out when leaving the driveway.

At the house, deputies contacted two males; one was the victim. Deputies entered the house and noticed broken items about. It looked like there had been a struggle inside the home with broken glass and what appeared to be blood. Several rooms inside the home were being used as an indoor marijuana grow.

The victim stated they were drinking last night with Holly Fonseca at her house. After consuming alcohol and drugs, Holly became intoxicated and wanted to pierce the victim’s nose. The victim refused and Holly attacked him. Holly then went and got a shotgun and allegedly threatened the victim and his friend. Because they were on Rancheria property, she said the rules are different and she could kill and bury them without anyone caring.

According to the victim, several Rancheria security officers arrived. Holly tried to hide the shotgun but it was recovered by Security. He asked them to call the Sheriff’s Office but they refused. Security officers told the victim they would call the Tribal Police, but they wouldn’t do anything. A security officer transported the victim and his friend home.

While on the way home, Holly allegedly followed them in her vehicle. The victim described her as driving recklessly. Once home, Holly went into the victim’s house and refused to leave. She attacked the victim again, and then left, only to return and throw rocks at the house and pound on the doors. The victim pretended to call Holly’s father, Tribal Chairman Nicholas Fonseca, hoping she would leave. The ruse worked and Holly left. The victim then called the Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies contacted Rancheria Security regarding the shotgun. Security advised they had the shotgun however released it to Chairman Fonseca. Tribal Administrator Ernest Vargas assisted the deputies by retrieving the shotgun and locating Holly. Holly returned to the victim’s house where she met with the deputies.

After investigating the incident and recovering the shotgun, deputies took Holly Fonseca into custody. She was arrested and booked on assault with a deadly weapon charges and making criminal threats. She was later released on bond.

Narcotics detectives were summoned to investigate the indoor marijuana grow. The home contained somewhere between 300 and 400 plants and a suspected Butane Honey Oil Lab. These labs, commonly referred to as BHO labs, have a high explosive potential because of the Butane used in the manufacture of concentrated cannabis. El Dorado County has had numerous BHO labs explode in the past causing structure fires, wildland fires, and several people have been hospitalized with burns. Arrested on for an outstanding warrant was 26 year-old Mihai (Mike) Popescu. He was also booked for cultivation of marijuana and possession of marijuana for sale. The case is still under investigation.

Georgetown Heroin Arrest

On 05/03/15 at about 9:10 AM, deputies served a felony arrest warrant in the 5000 block of Reservoir Road in Georgetown. The subject of the warrant was 28 year-old Lainey Porter. Deputies thought Porter might attempt to flee when contacted.

At the home, deputies contacted three males inside and Porter was contacted outside, running from the back of the trailer. Porter was detained without incident; she followed a deputy’s verbal command to stop. She was taken into custody without incident.

Persons contacted inside the residence, to include Porter, were on Probation and subject to search and seizure. Searching the residence, deputies found hypodermic needles and charred spoons, items consistent with the injection of Heroin. At least one of the syringes was partially filled with brown liquid, ready for use. Hypodermic needles and syringes were found in other portions of the trailer, as well as some concentrated cannabis. Concentrated cannabis, a processed form of marijuana, is not allowable without a doctor’s recommendation. Several people who were at the residence had injection sites on their bodies. A pipe normally used to smoke methamphetamine was also recovered. It appeared to have been used.

47 year-old Patrick Schneider of Georgetown was arrested for possession of narcotic paraphernalia and was cited and released at the scene. 30 year-old Christopher Brady, a transient, was arrested for possession of concentrated cannabis and possession of narcotic paraphernalia. Lainey Porter of Georgetown was arrested on her warrant, possession of a controlled substance (Heroin), and narcotic paraphernalia. At the jail, she received an enhancement for being on felony probation.

Trash that was being burned on the property was reported to Air Quality Management for follow-up. According to the deputies, the thick black smoke from the burning garbage outside of the trailer had a toxic smell. Information on the piles of trash, debris, and other dilapidated structures, some with exposed electrical wires in the vicinity of propane tanks, was forwarded to Code Enforcement for investigation.

Counterfeit Credit Card Ring Arrested

On 04/30/15 at about 1:00 PM, deputies responded to Red Hawk Casino for a fraudulent use of a credit card. Red Hawk Casino Security reported two persons inside the Casino attempted to use forged or stolen credit cards in an attempt to obtain cash. One was described as a Hispanic Male Adult and the other an African American Female Adult.

Deputies Jeff Sargent and Jeremy Funk met with Security and learned the Hispanic Male had left. Security however identified him as Edmundo Gomez Ruiz who was last seen accompanied by another unidentified male in a silver BMW. Contacting the female, she identified herself as 24 year-old Jasiah Paulinedeann Girtman of San Rafael. During the course of the investigation, Girtman had multiple credit cards in her and several other people’s names. Deputy Sargent arrested Girtman for possession of forged credit cards and possession of narcotic paraphernalia.

Security notified the deputies that a black Ford Explorer associated with Girtman was still parked in the Casino parking lot. On the 5th floor of the parking garage, Deputy Funk and Sgt. Darin Lewis located the Explorer and found it to be occupied by 43 year-old Aaron Dade of San Francisco. Dade was in possession of more forged credit cards and cash. Deputy Funk took him into custody for using the illegal credit cards. Both Girtman and Dade were transported and booked into the El Dorado County Jail. At booking, Dade’s bail was enhanced due to prior felony convictions.

Information led deputies to believe there were more people involved and they might be staying at the Motel 6 in Cameron Park. Deputy Funk, Deputy Blake Alvarez, Special Enforcement Detail (SED) Deputy Daryl Miller, SED Deputy Ryan Carpenter, Detective Simon Brown, and Sgt. Lewis went to the motel to freeze two rooms in preparation of a search warrant. In the motel, Deputy Funk contacted a female outside one of the rooms who identified herself as 39 year-old Alison Hash of San Francisco. In the parking lot of the same motel Deputy Alvarez noticed a silver BMW occupied by two males. He contacted and detained the occupants identified as 37 year-old Morteza Hossein Ghezavat of Millbrae and 52 year-old Edmundo Gomez Ruiz of Richmond. Gomez Ruiz was the Hispanic Male Adult that left Red Hawk Casino before the first deputies arrived.

More credit cards, debit cards, and gift cards were found in the BMW. There were also up to 200 various four digit number sequences that could be imprinted onto blank cards. A machine that manufactures credit cards was also located. Ghezavat was arrested for possession of the replica credit cards and 7 warrants for his arrest out of the Bay Area. Added at booking was an enhancement for a prior felony conviction and being on probation. Gomez Ruiz was arrested for intent to defraud. Both were booked into the El Dorado County Jail.

In a motel room, evidence of credit card manufacturing was located. Alison Hash, who had been contacted outside the room in the hall, was arrested for using another person’s identity to obtain illegal credit and an outstanding felony arrest warrant out of Sacramento County. She had with her a second credit card manufacturing machine, a reader-writer machine that is used to copy credit card numbers onto a magnetic strip, more blank credit cards and numbers, and other items used to make fake credit cards. Hash was transported to the El Dorado Jail. Her bail was also enhanced due to prior felony convictions. It is estimated the group had hundreds of stolen credit card numbers in their (joint) possession. The case is still under investigation.
