Lock Down at Ponderosa High School

On 11/19/14 at 0945 the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch received a call regarding a male subject walking in the neighborhood south of Ponderosa High School’s Football Field.  The subject was allegedly carrying a rifle.  The on-duty School Resource Officer put Ponderosa High School on a “shelter in place” lockdown while deputies located the subject.  Sheriff’s deputies contacted the individual and determined he was carrying a BB gun and was not a threat to anyone and was totally unrelated to the school. The high school was soon released back to normal business once it was determined there was no threat to the school or the neighborhood. The school was in lockdown for about 10 minutes.
