Current Situation Zone 1 (north portion): Fire crews continue to patrol, mop up, hold, and improve existing control lines throughout Zone 1. Rain showers and isolated thunderstorms last night have assisted in the efforts of further
containment and are forecasted to continue throughout the day. The demobilization process continues while facilitating the needs of the incident. Tahoe National Forest has issued a road closure which includes the Foresthill Rd., Forest Service Rd. 22, and the Western States and Tevis Cup trails. Current Situation Zone 2 (south portion): Temperatures will continue to be cool with the chance of showers and thunderstorms expected throughout the day. Crews continue to mop up, hold, and improve existing control lines. Containment lines continue to be coordinated between Zones 1 and Zones 2. Fire Suppression Repair Teams are preparing to work in the fire effected areas. The demobilization process continues to release excess resources while maintaining an adequate amount of resources to meet incident needs. In an effort to prevent the spread of non-native weeds and diseases within the forest, a vehicle rinse station has been established using water conservation measures and run off containment. The King Fire is being managed in Unified Command with Eldorado National Forest, El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office and CAL FIRE. The Federal Team CIIMT 5 (Jim Giachino) is managing Zone 1 (northern portion) of the fire, and CAL FIRE  IMT 5 (Kevin Smith) is managing Zone 2 (southern portion) of the fire.

Good evening. With all King Fire-affected residents either now returning to their homes or having otherwise received necessary Red Cross assistance, the evacuation shelter which has been located at Seventh Day Adventist Church in Camino will close tonight, 9/26, at 8:00 PM.

The United States Forest Service briefed allied public safety agencies this morning on the state of the Cascade Fire.  USFS Fire Command reports  that the very favorable weather conditions overnight are expected continue into this operation period and beyond. The Hot Shot Crews who fought the fire overnight have made significant progress, and  fire activity outside of the fire’s current line in the Desolation Wilderness is not expected.  As this event winds down no structures are threatened and mutual aid is not needed at present, nor is it an anticipated need.   Should the situation change The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office remains prepared to assist as required.
