Death from snowboarding accident

On Thursday, December 7, 2017, David Karlin, a 23 year old from Orangevale, Ca, was pronounced dead after a snowboarding accident in South Lake Tahoe.  First aid was provided by an on scene acquaintance as well as Ski Patrol, while David was being transported to Paramedics. Paramedics were unable to revive David and he was pronounced dead. The cause of death is pending and next of kin have been notified.

Butane Extraction Lab

    On December 6, 2017, El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office Detectives were conducting follow up to a narcotics investigation in the 5000 block of Monte Vista Way in Camino.  During the investigation, a large scale, commercial style Butane extraction lab was discovered.  Detectives obtained a search warrant for the property and subsequently seized numerous items used in the commercial manufacturing of concentrated cannabis; to include multiple commercial vacuum ovens, a closed loop butane oil extraction system, multiple 5 gallon cylinders of butane, and a commercial decanter system.  Additionally, close to $14,000 in cash, almost $10,000 in silver, approximately 300 pounds of marijuana and four firearms were recovered. El Dorado County Hazmat was called to assist for the potential of explosive solvent chemicals being used in the manufacturing process.
    As a result of the investigation, Joshua Martin, age 43 of Camino, was arrested for manufacturing a controlled substance and conspiracy. He was booked at the El Dorado County Jail in Placerville.

Alcoholic Beverage Control Grant Operations

The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of a grant from the State of California Alcoholic Beverage Control, will be conducting multiple operations at numerous random business locations in El Dorado County in the near future to stop the illegal sales of alcoholic beverages to under age patrons.

These operations utilize IMPACT inspections, minor decoy operations, and shoulder tap operations, in an effort to deter businesses from selling alcoholic beverages to minors and underage patrons.

The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office is committed to total care for our community and total enforcement on crime and criminals.  These types of operations are another valuable tool we utilize to meet the expectations of our citizens
